Litter is extremely unsightly and can end up in rivers and canals, polluting the water supply. Animals may get trapped or poisoned by litter in their habitats. Open containers such as paper cups and cans hold rainwater and provide breeding places for mosquitoes.
Contamination of water by human faeces can lead to toxicity and the transmission of diseases. Use the facilities provided in towns and villages, not the hedgerows and rest areas! If you really can’t possibly wait – then bury your waste at least 50 metres from paths and 200 metres from buildings.
