1) Reliable directions! Such a huge difference. The authors show their expertise in particular when they guide the walker away from the WM, as their recommendations are almost always superior to the official option
2) The maps - accurate, reliable, and (particularly important to me) provide a lot of detail for the surrounding area, making it easier to correct a mistake if you do make one. No need to also purchase the Topofrancigena - this guide has you covered. The altitude chart is also quite handy
3) The timeliness. It is clear that this guide is as up-to-the-moment as a guide can get. Making a guide is hard enough - annual updates that provide the details this guide does is a massive commitment.
4) GPS coordinates - I don't use them, but that's a heck of a feature.
5) Accommodation lists - while changes are frequent in this area, they have a great collection of places to crash.

Dear Paul,
I am pleased to report that at 1125 this morning I walked into St.
Peter's. It has been a memorable experience and I wish to thank you for
all your help and of course your excellent guides.
I promised you a donation and this I will organize in the next week or so,
can you send me details of where I should transmit the money to and in
what currency.
Just a question on the last few days. I have not looked at the updates on
the internet so I've worked off the guide as purchased and in the last few
days have come across some substantial differences between the route in
the guide and the route marked on the ground.
The route around Monterosi, from 72.022 to 72.030 has completely changed
and the route as in the guide is closed in two places, one of these I saw
at 72.022 the other I was told about when I tried to get back on to the
route as per the guide, I then went back and followed the new route.
Again the route from 73.012 to 73.021seems to have changed as has the route between 74.001 and 74.003 although I confess when I tried to follow the new route (to get off the via Cassia) I lost it somewhere and
navigated my own way back. As an aside the Via Trionfale is lethal in parts.
Do you have all these changes or should I try to describe them in more detail. They are I think the most substantial changes I came across in volume 3 and conceptually not bad and two out of three were pretty well
signed.

Dear Paul,
Now, that is what I call the perfect after sale service.
Thank you so much for the waypoints data. This is truly a great help. Together with the books
it will be so much easier to find the right way.

Paul,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I have had a chance to browse through the guides now - they are an excellent set of books and a credit to your (and Babette's) efforts. I can't wait to start on the walk. I have a Garmin GPS, so the gpw format would be great.

No, that's perfect. Thank you very much for your response. And thank you, I guess on behalf of everyone, for your hard work in compiling the guides. I've looked at the sample you posted on the website and it's brilliant - couldn't ask for more.
